Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment which uses controlled cooling to selectively target and eliminate stubborn fat. The results are proven, noticeable, and lasting. The technology was developed based on the premise that fat cells are more easily damaged by cooling than skin cells, as demonstrated by popsicle panniculitis. In this process, when subcutaneous fat is cooled below body temperature but above freezing, the fat undergoes cell death followed by a local inflammatory response, a localized panniculitis that gradually results in a reduction of fat in that area.
